What is Boudoir photography?
Boudoir [boo-dwahr] Historically, the boudoir formed part of the private suite of rooms of a lady, for bathing and dressing, adjacent to her bedchamber, being the female equivalent of the male cabinet. In later periods, the boudoir was used as a private drawing room, and was used for other activities, such as embroidery or entertaining intimate acquaintances. The term is now commonly used to refer to a photography style, where the lighting used is often in glamourous, with deep shadows adding mystery to the images. Is a sexy new trend that’s especially popular as a gift from a bride to her groom on their
wedding day, this is also great for Valentine’s day and significant other’s birthday present.
All images are shoot in-studio for a private setting, unless previous arrangements of a preferred location are made.
Shoots can be very low key, with a minimum of people on the set, typically the photographer and a make up artist if you have chosen to have one.
Why Should I choose boudoir?
Is a celebration of the body, whether you just lost weight or want to show off our curves, you just have to Love yourself. There is no limit to sizes or shapes. Is all about your inner beauty. Some women choose it after going through a life-changing experience such and illness or divorce, is a way to lift up your spirit and boost your confidence.
Is there an age limit for boudoir style?
Boudoir shoots are created for women 18 and older.
Can I do my own hair and make up?
Sure. If you are very skilled at it, please feel free. Otherwise, I strongly recommend hiring a professional make up artist or we can supply the make up artists. It is totally up to you. Remember, the make up for boudoir, and photography in general, are different from the every-day make-up, the lights tend to absorb the colors in a different way and you may need to emphasize it more than usual.
Do you do skin/makeup touch ups?
Yes, every photo will receive full editing. If there is a particular area of your body that you are concerned about, tell us.
I’ll assist with posing, lighting and angles to help with any area that you may not want to accentuate.
If I choose to have my boudoir session done in a hotel is that included?
No, hotels are not included in the price. You can schedule your session in your house at no extra cost or you can book a hotel room.
Do I need a deposit to reserve my photo shoot?
Yes, 50% deposit and a signed portrait contract are due to reserve your shoot. The remaining cost of the session should be paid in full previous to the shoot.
What kind of outfits should I bring for a boudoir session?
For the shoot itself, we often do several wardrobe changes. What you wear may depend on the type of images you want to give as a gift and what style you want to project. Most shoots include lingerie and many like to include clothing that represents their lover’s interests, from sports teams to car or motorcycle clothing. Just remember that shoes are also a part of the wardrobe and you should have shoes to match each outfit. Prior to the shoot, it is best to wear a loose fitting dress, such as a sundress, without elastic. Tight fitting clothes will leave marks on your skin that you don’t want to show in your images. I would recommend bringing a little sexy, flirty, and fun to your shoot. If you already have some outfits around the house you like, bring them! If you need to go out and get something I would recommend Victoria’s Secret, Hot Topic or Spencer’s for accessories.
A few other items I would recommend bring would be:
-Thigh high leggings with out without garter
-One of your husband’s/boyfriend button up shirts (loose fit)
-A silky button up shirt
-White cotton undershirt and panties
-Lipstick
-A corset
-Sexy Halloween costume
-Anything fishnet
-Mini-Skirt
-Personalized and printed panties
-Sexy Lingerie
-Cute high heeled shoes (red preferable)
- Jewelry, necklaces, bangles, scarfs
-Cowboy hat, police hat, marines hat…
-Daisy denim shorts
-Anything else you want! If you’re not sure about it BRING IT and we can decide at the shoot
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely! The process of posing for your boudoir images is supposed to be fun and relaxing! We want you comfortable and relaxed for your images if a friend can help you with that bring her along!
Do I have to be naked?
Absolutely not. Everyone has their own tastes. I am a firm believer in leaving something to the imagination! Often, the most intense images are not the most explicit, but rather those that use lighting, shadows, clothing, or props to create a sense of sensual mystery.
